Pre-season performances, PB's and podiums
With the triathlon season around the corner, the team have been out and about at early season events with more impressive performances, PB's and podiums than ever. It's going to be a great 2011!
February
Half marathons feature in many of the Ironman triathlete programs this and next month, as great opportunities for pacing practice and to test early season fitness. Jamie Kinch posted a PB at Watford half marathon (01:43) as part of his Ironman Lanzarote preparation. Helen Wilson-Jones ran a strong 01:38 over a hilly half marathon, in training for Ironman Austria in July. A great PB of 84 mins from Tarek Mouganie at the 'Race Your Pace' half marathon at Dorney Lake, on a vastly faster course than he will encounter at Ironman Lake Placid in July!
Short-course triathlete Andrew Bloxam ran a new half marathon PB at the Dorney Lake event, of 79 minutes. This was Andrew's second PB in as many weeks, following on from his 36min 10k PB just two weeks earlier. Ed Kirk Wilson also put together strong back-to-back performances within weeks with an 81 minute half marathon at Watford, and finishing 13th overall at the Ballbuster Duathlon with a sub 3 hour run-bike-run.
March
At the Paris half marathon Olympic distance specialist Paul Lanzoni posted a great PB of 80 minutes, going through the first 10k in a swift 37:55. In training for Ironman Switzerland, Lauren Whitmore paced an excellent PB of 1hour 38 mins. Great performances by both Ironman and Olympic distance triathletes on the team!
Top age group performances by the team at the first triathlon of the season in Abu Dhabi, with age group podiums in the long course event from Kerrie O'Connor and Coach Fi. In the Sprint event, Paul Reidy surprised himself with 4th place in his age group. He's getting ready for Ironman Austria in July! Tarek put together a strong race to finish 13th in the Short course race. Another great weekend of podium performances by the team, setting the bar quite high for the season ahead.
At the Kingston Breakfast run Paul Lanzoni podiumed in his age group with a superb 50:12 which placed him 6th overall in the 8.2m race. Tarek lowered his time on the 16m course to finish with a PB of 1:46 and 11th in AG.
